11th Annual WAVE Self-Guided Artists’ Tour Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012

What inspires an artist? What is it that sparks the imagination and creativity and drives the artist to create beauty from paint, clay, fabric, metal or wood?

You have a chance to find out when 30+ artists in Manitoba’s Interlake open the doors to their studios and invite you to the 11th Annual WAVEself-guiding artists’ tour. Taking place on Saturday, Sept. 1st and Sunday, Sept. 2nd from 10am – 6pm, the WAVEtour gives you the opportunity to visit some of the most talented artists the province has to offer, and to see the surroundings that inspire them. Starting from just north of Selkirk and winding along the west shore of Lake Winnipeg all the way up to Arnes, studios ranging from world-class galleries to funky cottages beckon you to enter and experience the artist’s world. Lose yourself in the colours of a painting, the intricate stitches of a quilt, or the whimsy of sculpture. Try on the perfect piece of jewelry. Listen to the woodsong of a guitar, or gaze as a camera’s lens makes you see the world with new eyes.

Make it a day; make it a weekend! While you’re on your WAVEadventure, make sure to stop in one of the fine restaurants along the way, or stop for a swim at any of the popular beaches. All artists’ studios will be flying the distinctive blue and white WAVEflag, and all studios will be open from 10am to 6pm. Full-colour brochures with each artist’s information and a detailed map showing each location can be found at all Travel Manitoba locations, our sponsors’ businesses and many retail locations throughout the Interlake area. Or, you can download the brochure at the WAVEwebsite: www.watchthewave.ca

So plan the perfect September weekend: come to the 11th Annual WAVE self-guiding artists’ tour, Sept. 1st & 2nd! Discover why so many artists have chosen to call the Interlake home. You’ll be so glad you did!
